We are excited to share that the 2025-2026 school year calendar was approved by the school board on Tuesday night. It includes several important updates that reflect our commitment to aligning with neighboring districts and enhancing the overall learning experience for our students.
Key Changes :
Earlier Start Date: The school year will begin earlier in August. This adjustment is possible because all RPS 205 schools are equipped with air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable learning environment during warmer months.
Fall Break: We will continue to offer a full week off for Fall Break, giving families and staff time to recharge.
First Semester Ends Before Winter Break: High School students will complete their first semester before Winter Break, allowing for a true break without pending exams or projects.
School Year Ends Before Memorial Day: The last day of school will occur before Memorial Day, providing families an earlier start to summer vacation.
The 2025-2026 calendar can be viewed here on the Calendar page on rps205.com: https://5il.co/33ras

Thank you families for taking the time to recognize our outstanding teachers!

Fairview would like to thank all Veterans and our Veteran and Office Professional, Markesha Brown-Currin.
Markesha completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina, then went on to AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Lee in Virginia. Her MOS ( Military Occupational Specialty) was 92A (Automated Logistical Specialist). After completing her training, she was shipped to the 2D infantry Division at Camp Castle in Dongduchen, South Korea.
She spent most of her time in the motor pool where she dispatched vehicles, issued licenses, and kept track of the necessary items that they needed to keep all our vehicles operational. She was able to meet so many interesting people like the Katusas (Korean Soldiers) and loved trying new foods. Her favorite thing to eat was Yaki Mandu (Korean dumplings).
She was able to visit Tokyo and really enjoyed visiting the temples, skiing, and hiking the mountains. For the remainder of her term, she was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. She worked in a warehouse that housed maps and as a secretary in the headquarters office. Her favorite part about being stationed in Kentucky was being able to travel throughout the south visiting Nashville and The Grand Ole Opry on her weekends off.
She is very proud to have had the ability to serve our country in the U.S. Army. It taught her discipline, integrity, teamwork and how to be a leader. It has really helped to shape her into the determined, hardworking, proud American that she is today.
Thank you Markesha and to all the Veterans for your service to our country!

All RPS 205 schools and offices are closed today in observance of the holiday.
